Allergies / Medical Needs

A number of children within the school are allergic to nuts and or eggs. As an anaphylactic reaction to these foods can be potentially life threatening we ask that all parents ensure that no nut products (e.g Kinder eggs/ bars) or egg (such as egg sandwiches) be brought into the school.

Any parent who has a child requiring any medication during school hours (this includes Calpol and asthmatic inhalers) must always fill out the appropriate forms available from the school office prior to the child taking or bringing the medication to school.

A reminder for parents whose child has agreed medication stored in the school that the onus is upon the parent to supply a small zipped bag for medicine storage and to ensure that the medication is always within its expiry date.

Whole School Assembly

The Whole School Assembly on Friday 28 October will be led by P5 in the Glenullin site.  It will commence at 9.15 a.m. and everyone is welcome

Shoebox Appeal

A local coordinator for the Shoebox Appeal visited recently and asked that when making up boxes the lid and box should, where possible be wrapped separately and contain £2 to assist transportation. Shoeboxes should contain ‘wwwpce’;

w         wash e.g. toothbrush or face cloth

w         wear e.g. hat, gloves or scarf

w         write e.g. notepad or colouring book

            p          pants – underwear

c          cuddle – teddy or small toy (not necessarily new but clean)

e          eat – sweets within appropriate use by date

Hallowe’en Parties

Hallowe’en parties will take place on both sites on Friday 28 October. Children may, if they wish, dress in Hallowe’en costume on this day.  Please ensure any wigs or hats are clearly labelled with the child’s name.  Please do not send any swords, brooms or similar items. Please do not send nuts into school as some children are allergic to them.

‘School Attendance Matters’

The Department of Education require information regarding pupils’ absences.  To help facilitate this, an absence sheet is enclosed which should be used to inform the class teacher why a child has been absent.  Please detach and send with the child when they return to school.

Song for the Month

For Hallowe’en our song of the month is a fun chance for us all to learn some French.

‘The Daily Mile’

In order to promote a healthier lifestyle the school has decided to participate in this campaign.  Pupils on both sites will be encouraged to run or walk a mile daily.

The ‘Daily Mile’ is all about encouraging children to be more active and to help understand the benefits of physical and mental well-being.  It is also proven to be an effective way of tackling childhood obesity and instilling a positive attitude to regular exercise.  More details can be found at www.thedailymile.co.uk.

The Skeletons’ Song

When the clock strikes 1 hour

One big skeleton opens its eyes

When the clock strikes 2 hours

Two large skeletons dress in blue

Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu! Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu!

When the clock strikes 3 hours

Three large skeletons make up their eyes

When the clock strikes 4 hours

Four large skeletons brush their hair

Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu! Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu!

When the clock strikes 5 hours

Five large skeletons eat eggs

When the clock strikes 6 hours

Six large skeletons play a game

Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu! Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu!

When the clock strikes 7 hours

Seven large skeletons dance a little

When the clock strikes 8 hours

Eight large skeletons walk two by two

Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu! Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu!

When the clock strikes 9 hours

Nine large skeletons form a queue

When the clock strikes 10 hours

Ten large skeletons come home

Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu! Poumbeu, Poumbeu, Poumbebeu!

When the clock strikes 11 hours

Eleven large skeletons go to bed

When the clock strikes midnight

Twelve large skeletons say goodnight

Poumbi, Poumbi, Poumbibi! Poumbi, Poumbi, Poumbibi!
